Newcastle printer wins a-ok trip of a lifetime
Wednesday 09. July 2008 - PaperCo this week presented Brian Conroy of Crescent Printing with the documentation confirming his luxury trip for two to Australia as winner of the PaperCo a-ok offset prize draw.
He and his wife will be flying business class with one week in Sydney and one week in Melbourne staying at 5- star hotels.
“I was very surprised to win. I had entered but I forgot until I got the call and when I told my wife she thought it was a wind up! Until now we havent been further than Greece or Turkey but we are looking forward to the trip which will probably be taken towards the end of the year, around Christmas time,” says Mr Conroy, a partner at Crescent Printing in Ashington, Northumberland.
The company produces general and commercial printing, including bingo tickets, using litho, letterpress and digital technology. It was started 24 years ago with his partner Alan Taylor and has for many years used Donald Murray, part of the PaperCo group, as its main merchant supplier.
“Donald Murray have always been very good and very reliable. They suggested we trial a-ok offset at the start of this year and we liked it and have kept to it,” says Mr Conroy. “Its crisp and clean, a good white and it runs well. We use it mainly for our litho applications but for some digital work as well.”
a-ok offset is a high quality, bright white paper and board range which is competitively priced. It features excellent opacity, bulk and surface smoothness to provide consistently high levels of press performance and super print quality.
There is a comprehensive range totaling 61 product lines covering five sizes and 13 weights. The sizes available are: RA2, SRA2, B2, SRA1 and B1. Paper weights of 70 to 120gsm are available and boards of 135 to 300gsm (or 162-375 micron). Ian Braithwaite, marketing manager, who visited Crescent Printing to present the prize, says: “The a-ok offset paper is extremely popular and every time a customer ordered this stock from us over the past few months they had an entry into the competition. Brian is clearly elated and we are pleased for him and also delighted that he has found a-ok offset such a great stock to use.”
