Citrix recruits new Area Vice President for UK, Ireland and South Africa

Friday 04. July 2008 - James Stevenson appointed as area vice president for the UK, Ireland and South Africa region

Citrix Systems, the global leader and most trusted name in Application Delivery Infrastructure (ADI), has appointed James Stevenson as its area vice president for the UK, Ireland and South Africa region. Mr. Stevenson’s career spans more than 25 years in the IT industry with leadership positions across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Mr. Stevenson will be leading Citrix’s business to focus on five key burgeoning areas which allow the company to provide complete virtualisation from the data centre to the desktop – delivering web applications, delivering windows applications, enhancing user experience, delivering application workloads and delivering desktops.

“Citrix is only scratching the surface of what’s possible,” said James Stevenson while commenting on his appointment. “Citrix is a visionary in virtualisation. Combined with the shift to applications and desktops being delivered rather than installed and accelerated uptake of concepts such as cloud computing, the opportunities open to me by joining the company were clear from the outset.”

Prior to taking his position at Citrix, Mr. Stevenson was vice president and managing director UK, Middle East and South Africa at Mercury until its acquisition by Hewlett Packard. He was at Hewlett Packard for 12 years in sales and sales management roles and latterly as its director of marketing for the Computer Systems Organisation. Mr. Stevenson moved on to roles at Digital UK and Ireland and Compaq, where he was responsible for its $1.3 billion Business Critical Server Group for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He also held chief executive positions at Keltec, a UK technology integrator, and Nomad Software, a private equity backed software business providing card payment solutions for retail banks.

Mr. Stevenson has an honours degree in Computer Studies from Sheffield Hallam University and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde. In his personal time, Mr. Stevenson is a keen sailor who recently competed in the 2007 Rolex Fastnet Race.
