Chicago Tribune Names John Trainor General Manager of Hoy

Friday 04. July 2008 - Chicago Tribune today announced the appointment of John Trainor as general manager of Hoy, the city's leading Spanish-language newspaper. Trainor, who starts his new role on July 14, succeeds Julian Posada, who left the position in May.

Trainor was the co-founder and is chairman of Hispanic Solutions LLC, a Chicago-based company whose various businesses focus on U.S. Hispanic and Latin American advertising, promotion and media. He is a past nominee for Hispanic Business magazine’s annual entrepreneur of the year award, and a multiple-year nominee for media executive of the year by HispanicAd.com.

“John brings to this role a perfect storm of advertising / marketing experience, media savvy and deep roots within the Hispanic community,” said Owen Youngman, senior vice president of strategy and development. “He is the ideal person to advance Hoy as the newspaper creates new value for advertisers and serves the local Hispanic community with daily local reporting.”

Trainor holds a bachelor’s degree in international business administration from U.S. International University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
