UK printers urged to enter international ECO awards
Monday 30. June 2008 - Heidelberg UK is keen to hear from UK printers interested in entering the ECO Awards recently launched by Heidelberg at drupa.
There is a prize fund of 50,000 Euro for the award which will be divided among the winners. There are two categories, one for sustainable companies and the other for forward-looking solutions.
Mark Hogan, marketing manager at Heidelberg UK, says: “There is a fantastic enthusiasm for green issues in the UK and we know there are many printers who could provide excellent submissions to this awards scheme. The deadline is 31 July so we would like to hear from printers who are interested so that we can supply them with details of the scheme and an entry form. You can get details from www.heidelberg.com, following through to the environment area of the web site.”
The prize will be awarded for innovative and outstanding sustainable achievements and in 2008 the awards will focus on responsible management of resources and energy, climate protection and environmentally-friendly management.
The entry can related to the business as a whole or to outstanding solutions specifically in an area such as prepress, pressroom, finishing, logistics or corporate culture.
Dr Juergen Rautert, member of the management board at Heidelberg, says: “The idea behind the award is to show that environmentally friendly credentials help printshops to improve their image and boost their earnings, while eco-friendly investments quickly pay for themselves. Heidelberg is aiming to promote environmental awareness and ensure that printing gets greener.”
