200+ TO ATTEND POLESTAR CARBON CONFERENCE
Thursday 26. June 2008 - Representing over 65 organisations, some 200 customers and suppliers have registered to attend Polestar's first environmental conference, taking place next Monday, 30th June at Stationer's Hall. The two sessions, which are looking at the measurement and reduction of the carbon footprint throughout the supply chain, have attracted representatives from the leading magazine and newspaper publishers, major retailers, and Polestar's consumable and utility suppliers.
Polestar Chief Executive Barry Hibbert says: “Obviously we are delighted by the response to this event and the calibre of the delegates and organisations attending, who clearly recognise that we are, once again, developing ways of working with them for the common good. The environment is on everyone’s agenda, but through this initiative, we are moving on to the next stage – taking ownership of responsibilities and acting on them.
“The timing and objective of this event are spot on. By bringing all parties together, we can make some real progress. I am looking forward to hearing what they have to say and looking at what we can do next.”
Polestar is working with the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Management programme, which provides commercially viable solutions to help UK businesses cut carbon, energy and costs. Hugh Jones, Director of Solutions at the Carbon Trust is one of the keynote speakers at the conference.
