For impressions that adhere – GECKO, the solvent-based printing-ink system

Tuesday 17. June 2008 - GECKO from the hubergroup is an ink system that improves both quality and efficiency. With this state-of-the-art system for solvent-based packaging printing, the hubergroup has set yet another standard in this important segment of the printing industry.

Thanks to its simple formulation method, the modular GECKO system guarantees maximum production reliability and leads quickly and efficiently to solutions to the most diverse of tasks in packaging printing.

The GECKO system is built on GECKO Base, high-intensity pigment concentrates with a wide range of colour shades and fastness properties. Ideal for use in in-house mixing stations.
All the other components of the Gecko system are oriented to the respective application. The system for surface printing, Gecko Frontal, comprises the following modules:
• Frontal-Plus – for printing on aluminium or paper
• Frontal-Eco – for standard applications on films with good surface adhesion and rub resistance
• Frontal-Uni – for universal application when demands with respect to adhesion and other mechanical properties are exceedingly high
• Gecko Zoom – solutions for shrink wrapping films and applications (PE, PVC, PET, OPS)
• Gecko Tobacco – specifically geared to the production of cigarette packaging
• What’s more, the hubergroup also offers precisely tailored Gecko Special Solutions for meeting specific customer demands.

The modules designed for lamination work go by the name of Gecko Bond:
• Bond-Top – for standard laminations on PE, OPP and chemically treated PET and laminating to a wide range of films,
• Bond-Star – universally deployable for all common substrates and laminate structures.

The product portfolio is completed by a wide range of specially developed products.
These products are very finely tuned to the Gecko ink system and consequently offer the printer maximum production reliability because they guarantee compatibility and quality of the highest level. The range encompasses
coatings and varnishes such as overprint varnishes, high-gloss coatings, 2-component varnishes, varnishes for special surface characteristics and water-based emulsion coatings, special types of white such as 1-component white for e.g. sterilisable bread packaging, 2-component white and primer white, metallic inks and special-effect inks for a wide range of applications, additives for fine-tuning the properties of the ink, and primers for e.g. priming aluminium foils or metallised substrates.
And of course, the hubergroup also complements the Gecko system with the full range of service and support facilities of a leading and globally operating manufacturer. In particular, these include ink-related advice on substrate properties, printability, resistance to/of package contents, mechanical properties and questions of conformity, technical support to help achieve printers’ quality and productivity targets and optimise their printing process, and ink formulation in order to obtain precisely the hues, shades and fastness properties demanded and to help create the “right colour sensation”.
