Author Solutions Appoints Diane Gedymin Executive Editorial Director

Tuesday 17. June 2008 - Publishing Veteran to Oversee Editorial Quality and Standards for ASI's Self-Publishing Brands

Author Solutions, Inc., the world leader in the fastest-growing segment of publishing, has appointed publishing-industry veteran Diane Gedymin to the position of executive editorial director. In her new role, Gedymin will oversee editorial quality and standards for all ASI’s author services brands, including AuthorHouse , iUniverse and Wordclay

“Diane’s years of trade-publishing experience will help Author Solutions provide our self-publishing authors with the same level of professional editorial services they’d receive from traditional publishers,” said Kevin Weiss, ASI president and chief executive officer.

Gedymin previously helped develop the supported self-publishing model at iUniverse through the creation of an editorial department providing industry-standard evaluations and services, and recognition programs such as the unique Star Program. These enhancements helped iUniverse become the second-largest self-publishing service provider in the world.

“Because quality matters, I’m committed to helping authors make their books the best they can be in order to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace,” says Gedymin. “It’s an exciting challenge to help authors across the wide range of companies in the ASI group — from first-time writers to experienced, published authors looking to enhance their writing careers through a successful new book-publishing model.”

Gedymin’s publishing experience includes time as senior vice president and publishing director of HarperSanFrancisco, where she acquired and edited Sidney Poitier’s #1 New York Times best-selling autobiography and Oprah Book Club selection, “The Measure of a Man.” She has also held executive positions with the Putnam Berkley Group and was a literary agent at Manhattan-based Carlisle & Company. Gedymin is the co-author of “Get Published! Professionally, Affordably, Fast.” She works in the New York office.
