POLESTAR PETTY ENHANCES ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS
Monday 16. June 2008 - Complementing its existing environmental accreditations, Polestar Petty has been awarded ISO 14001 certification for environmental management.
Polestar Petty Managing Director Chris Bowen says: “Although we have ISO9001, FSC and PEFC status, this latest accreditation is recognition that our processes meet with environmental legislation. However, we continue to work with our customers and suppliers to reduce and eliminate waste streams, and are now well placed to meet their demands and to lead from the front where we can.”
In March 2007, Polestar Petty became the third site within Polestar to achieve Chain of Custody Certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the second to gain Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). Since then, all the UK plants except Varnicoat have attained FSC status. Polestar Sheffield also has ISO 14001.
Later this month, Polestar is hosting its first Carbon – Ownership and Action seminar for customers, suppliers and employees to address the key aspects of carbon footprinting. A learning experience for attendees, with lively and stimulating discussion, interactive technology will be on hand to demonstrate how organisations can measure their carbon footprint.
