Tribune Company Promotes John Hendricks to EVP/Interactive and Broadcast Sales
Wednesday 11. June 2008 - Tribune Company announced today the promotion of John Hendricks to executive vice president/interactive and broadcast sales, effective immediately.
He will oversee national and local sales efforts for Tribune’s 23 television stations and the more than 50 websites operated by the company’s broadcasting, publishing and interactive divisions.
“John’s done a great job for our broadcast group, now we need him to work the same magic with sales at Tribune’s websites,” said Marc Chase, president of Tribune Interactive. “He’s been taking sleight of hand lessons, learning card tricks and simple rabbit-out-of-a-hat stuff — we think he’s ready to move to the next level.”
Hendricks will be responsible for developing strategic business and sales initiatives, coordinating broadcasting and interactive group advertising agreements and managing relationships with key sales-related organizations. In his new position, Hendricks will work closely with Dana Hayes, Jr., senior vice president/sales for Tribune Interactive, who will now report to him.
“John is a large part of the reason that our broadcasting group is leading the industry in sales growth,” said Ed Wilson, president of Tribune Broadcasting. “He’s talented, innovative, provides outstanding leadership and looks great in a tux. John’s also built an aggressive sales team. He’ll bring those same skills to our interactive sales efforts.”
Hendricks, who has served as senior vice president/sales at Tribune Broadcasting since 2002, said, “So much of interactive sales is making something out of nothing, I’m ideally suited for this job. Look, nothing up my sleeve … “
