Kurz expands its environmental protection
Sunday 08. June 2008 - The stamping foil manufacturer Kurz is strengthening its commitment to ecofriendly manufacturing and processing of stamping foils. During recent years, Kurz installed ultra-modern production facilities in the manufacturing plants in Sulzbach-Rosenberg (Bavaria) and Malaysia thereby enabling the energy usage per finished square meter of foil to be reduced by 23 percent.
Kurz is also standardizing and streamlining its product range to increase the company’s production efficiency, while at the same time enabling its customers to use the products more efficiently.
For example, a versatile hot stamping foil called Luxor/Alufin LX was developed to be easy to process and very low in waste. The new Luxor/Alufin RHS hot stamping foil, which is also especially economical and energy-efficient to use, allows both high processing speeds and high edge definition stamping to be achieved with the same foil.
Global utilization of waste-air cleaning systems
Kurz regards its waste-air cleaning systems – which are the best technology available – as making a particularly significant contribution to environmental protection.
The system works by cleaning the pollutant-containing waste air from the production process, and recovering and returning in full to the production process the released energy. This can cover a substantial proportion of the energy requirements of production and significantly reduce the quantities of CO2 produced.
Kurz employs these waste-air cleaning systems not only in Germany but also in its international manufacturing plants. This has enabled the foil manufacturer to remain substantially below the legally permissible emission levels at all locations.
At the Hefei plant in China, the company has achieved emission levels 20 times lower than the statutory prescribed limits. Kurz has an enormous investment in the installation of waste-air cleaning systems – in the case of China, entirely voluntarily; no other manufacturer in the industry possesses such facilities.
