Saturday 07. June 2008 - At drupa 2008, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) was awarded the ET EuroTest mark and the safety-tested GS mark for several of its postpress products. These include the automated combi folder series Stahlfolder KH 82, the new adhesive binder system Eurobind 4000, the collator Eurogatherer 4000, the three-knife trimmer Eurotrim 4000C, and the adhesive binders Eurobind 600 and Eurobind 1300.
The new Diana X 115 was also awarded the ET and GS marks, making it the only folder gluer with these test certificates. The certificates and marks were presented by Albrecht H. Glöckle, Head of the Specialist Committee of the German Institution for Statutory Insurance and Prevention in the Printing and Paper Industry (Berufsgenossenschaft).
“Heidelberg is committed to the systematic implementation of the latest safety regulations in its machines, and we achieved these certifications by integrating the Berufsgenossenschaft into the development process at an early stage,” explains Dr. Friedrich Denkhaus, Head of Postpress at Heidelberg. “The Berufsgenossenschaft and Heidelberg can look back on many years of successful cooperation,” confirms Albrecht H. Glöckle on awarding the marks.
EuroTest mark stands for accredited safety in Europe
The ET EuroTest mark was introduced at the end of 2007. It fulfills the same safety requirements as the GS mark, and is currently awarded by 16 different testing centers. This “EuroTest” collaboration is looking to use the ET mark to promote the European aim of creating uniform regulations for machines, which will be applied in all EU countries.
GS mark stands for tested safety
The GS “safety-tested” mark has become an internationally recognized standard since its introduction in 1977 and is now the leading safety mark in Europe. It is awarded by German inspection authorities. The GS mark is based on the German Equipment and Product Safety Act (Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz, GPSG). Technical products can be awarded the GS mark when a recognized and independent test and certification authority performs a design type approval test to confirm that it meets the safety requirements of the GPSG.
