Wednesday 04. June 2008 - Largest commercial printer in Latin America will add four Sunday presses and four Pacesetter saddlestitchers in Brazil

After announcing plans to add four new Goss Sunday web presses, the largest commercial printer in Latin America signed an order at the drupa tradeshow for four new Goss Pacesetter 2200 saddlestitchers.

Plural Editora e Grafica will install two Sunday 3000 presses with 2×8 cylinder configurations in late 2008, followed by two identical four unit gapless press systems in 2009 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Shipment of the four eight-station Goss Pacesetter saddlestitchers will coincide, with each finishing system supporting one of the new presses.

“We are expanding and upgrading our capacity with what we believe is the most productive and efficient web offset press and finishing technology available for our requirements,” according to Carlos Jacomine, director general at Plural Editora e Grafica.

Each pair of 32-page Sunday presses will be duplexed, allowing the company to produce a wide range of signatures with up to 64 pages. All four systems will be equipped with Goss Contiweb FD pasters, Ecocool dryers and PCF-3 pinless combination folders as well as the Goss Web Center automated workflow system.

The 22,000-books-per-hour finishing systems will be the first new-generation shaftless Pacesetter models with servo drives in Latin America. Each will be equipped with automatic hopper loaders and extensions, a Goss HT22 trimmer and a counter stacker.

“The wider Goss 2×8 Sunday press format presents significant advantages,” explains Peter Ens of Plural Editora e Grafica. “Each single-web press will be more productive and easier to operate than our older two-web press systems.”
“We’re pleased to extend the strong relationship we have established with the team at Plural,” explains Goss International CEO Bob Brown. “This is an exciting expansion project that will showcase our innovative technology, our unique ability to supply press and finishing components and our commitment to working with our customers to develop highly advanced print production capabilities.”

Plural Editora e Grafica will more than double the size of its facility to 33,000 square meters to accommodate new Goss press and finishing systems. The company produces a variety of publications, catalogs, retail inserts and other commercial products. Current systems include six Goss M-1000 presses in two-web configurations, a 48-page Sunday 4000 press and Pacesetter 855 saddlestichers.
