Müller Martini: Stand introduction

Tuesday 03. June 2008 - Under the motto "Grow with us." Muller Martini is presenting a new generation of machines at stand B38 in Hall 14. In the fresh new Laserblue color, a new standardized look and with numerous improvements - to their functionality, to reflect ergonomic principles and to offer more protection to the environment.

A consistent approach has been taken to the design of all the Muller Martini machines, creating concave and convex lines which will make them unmistakable in the future.

However, the new machines are not only attractive to look at, but are also sophisticated, fully tested and exhibit many technological innovations. One particular highlight is without a doubt the new Primera series of saddle stitchers for the mid-range performance segment. As a wide range of different job structures and job sizes clearly demands customized system solutions, Muller Martini is offering the Primera series with different levels of automation and speeds. Exhibited at the stand are the Primera C130 (standard model with partial automation and a speed of 13,000 cycles/hour) and the Primera E140 (a highly automated model, 14,000 cycles/hour). The Primera A110 (an entry-level model for the full range of sizes with 11,000 cycles/hour) will be displayed on the Palamides stand in Hall 6.
For cost-efficient production of small and medium-sized runs, Muller Martini presents the Presto E90 (9,000 cycles/hour), a new highly automated version of the successful Presto, with the new 1565 three-knife trimmer with tool free set-up, for a neat trim. There will be a demonstration of the tried and tested Supra saddle stitcher (30,000 cycles/hour) with the newly developed Supratrimmer in combination with the Integro inserting machine. The new Q stitching heads (Quick Setup) are available for all the saddle stitchers. These have been redeveloped and boast unbeatably short job changeover times.
In the Onyx/Rubin inserting and packaging line, Muller Martini is presenting a tried and tested line with which inserts can be included in the main section (or placed on the cover) and then sealed with environmentally-friendly foil.

Muller Martini will be demonstrating, for the first time in the world, the fully automatic, multipurpose Apila palletizing system which can be used for processing loose, blocked, foil-wrapped or strapped bundles. It can be used in-line or off-line in press delivery or post-press in the saddle stitching section. The Preciso rotary trimmer will be presented in the new DS double stream variant. This is designed to be extremely space-saving and delivers excellent trimming quality on two levels.

A modular and therefore easily upgradeable system solution, the new ProLiner inserting system, which is a guarantee for maximum flexibility and secure investment, will be the center of attention. Thanks to the flexible system architecture, the ProLiner can be upgraded on an individual basis, taking into account complex mailroom requirements such as zoning, regionalization and the rising numbers of pre-printed sections and supplements. The ProLiner will be demonstrated with the new CoLiner pregathering system in Düsseldorf for the first time.

The new gathering machine 3697 – with a new, revolutionary separation principle – will be exhibited in the softcover division. This new solution has an innovative sheet separation with which the signatures are peeled off the stack and safely conveyed out to the concave raceway. This new gathering machine will be demonstrated in combination with the Corona C18 high performance perfect binder. The Orbit three-knife trimmer which is integrated in the line will be shown with the innovative Smart-Press technology which guarantees first class trimming at top speeds.
The Pantera perfect binder will be presented for the first time with Amrys, the automatic make ready system. This option has cut the already short make-ready times of the Pantera even more.

With servo technology, the Diamant MC bookline now achieves even higher net output in the casing-in segment. Demonstration of the in-line production system will include the book block full surface press in the backgluing process and the end-sheet feeder upstream of the Collibri backgluing machine, and the Ribbon inserting machine. The Ventura MC book sewing machine with servo drive sewing center is another highlight that Muller Martini will be displaying.

The SigmaLine, the fully automatic total system for digital book production, will also be appearing in the new design, which has been reworked to reflect ergonomic principles. In order to improve the efficiency of small runs even further, the SigmaLine makes use of the advantages offered by the new Connex workflow system from Muller Martini. In-line book production is based on the continuous JDF/JMF workflow. With Connex, the JDF for each job can be generated in a few mouse clicks.

With the infinitely variable size Alprinta V web offset press, Muller Martini will be demonstrating how fast a job change can be carried out on a hybrid machine combining offset and flexo printing. The technological innovations reduce make-ready times and waste dramatically and ensure a high level of consistency throughout the run. Jointly with Kodak in Hall 7, Muller Martini will also be presenting the Concepta web press, 4-color offset with integrated 2-color digital printing at production speeds up to 300 m/min. This will be of interest to printers in the direct mail and security sectors.
