BASF to raise prices for Polystyrene in Europe
Monday 02. June 2008 - As of June 1, 2008, BASF will raise its gross market price (GMP) for Polystyrene by 100 per metric ton.
“Owing to the sharp increase in the cost of raw materials for Polystyrene in recent months, we find ourselves forced to make this unusually high price adjustment, to 1,525 per metric ton,” explains Jaroslaw Michniuk, head of Marketing Styrenic Polymers Europe.
In the past weeks, the prices of styrene, the precursor of Polystyrene, have reached a historical high. Should styrenes price rise continue, further price increases for Polystyrene may be possible.
