Xerox Unveils Prepress Workflow Software Designed and Priced Specifically for Entry-Level Production Printing
Wednesday 28. May 2008 - Express to Print makes sophisticated job preparation as easy as "click, drag and drop"
Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) is bringing powerful workflow software to entry-level production print environments with FreeFlow Express to Print, the latest addition to its industry-leading portfolio of workflow tools.
With a highly visual graphical user interface, FreeFlow Express to Print helps perform job ticketing and prepress functions with a simple click, drag and drop method. Tabs, covers, chapter starts and watermarks are easily added by clicking and dragging to the desired location within a document. The screen will immediately show a graphic representation of each page within the job ensuring it is submitted and printed exactly as desired.
Traditionally, sophisticated workflow capabilities have been designed to address highly complex, high volume print needs and have been too costly to implement into smaller production environments. Express to Print, however, is affordably priced and tailored specifically for entry-level digital print operations by automating common prepress functions and reducing steps required to program print jobs such as business cards, brochures, postcards, books and manuals. With standard and complex tasks now easier to complete, Express to Print opens new revenue opportunities by enabling more jobs to be printed.
FreeFlow Express to Print brings affordability as well as increased productivity to the light production space with integrated predefined templates for trouble-free prepress and file preparation. When jobs are inserted into a template no operator intervention is required and the file is automatically prepared and prepress is complete. More than 70 templates will enable complex tasks such as imposition, page numbering, Bates numbering, bar codes, watermarks and finishing. In addition, FreeFlow Express to Print facilitates template customization for customers interested in creating their own unique workflow templates.
“The previously labor-intensive task of setting up each job individually from scratch is now eliminated, resulting in faster job preparation, print times and fewer errors throughout the process,” said Quincy Allen, president, Xerox Production Systems Group.
FreeFlow Express to Print can be installed in minutes without the need for a server or complicated programming, allowing customers to use the tool immediately. Xerox is offering a free trial of FreeFlow Express to Print downloadable.
The software is being demonstrated in conjunction with a new light production digital color press that is being announced at drupa, the largest conference and exhibition for the print industry held every four years in Düsseldorf, Germany. FreeFlow Express to Print is also available in support of the Xerox 4112/4127 Copier/Printer, Xerox 4112/4127 Enterprise Printing Systems and DocuColor 242/252/260 with additional print engine support planned for 2009.
