Autobond Celebrates 30th Anniversary With Laminating Breakthrough
Wednesday 21. May 2008 - UK manufacturer Autobond celebrates its 30th anniversary this month by announcing the launch of two industry firsts and the promise of more groundbreaking developments in laminating technology for drupa.
During February the company has introduced the worlds first laminator/encapsulator, a B1 machine that can laminate one or both sides of a sheet in a single pass and can be changed over in a matter of minutes to provide encapsulation facilities. Autobond has also launched another world first following the development of a new B1 laminator/UV varnish coating machine.
The family run business was formed in 1978 by chairman George Gilmore and is run today by managing director John Gilmore and his brother Alan. The third generation are already heavily involved in the company, with two of John Gilmores sons working in the business, one in the UK and one in the US.
Autobond is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sheet-fed film laminators, both thermal and water-based, and is a major supplier of thermal and water-based films and manufacturer of adhesives, which can be used on most makes of laminator. The company has customers in more than 145 countries.
