The VOCUS: Industrys most cost effective VOC abatement solution
Tuesday 20. May 2008 - Reducing emissions of volatile organic compounds organic (VOC) into the atmosphere is of an increasing strategic importance for many companies.
Especially for companies which do not know, technically or financially, how to reduce their VOC emissions, Pure Air Solutions developed an innovative abatement technology. The VOCUS, as Pure Air Solutions named this technology, can play a significant role to comply with the Solvent Emission Directive (SED) 1999/13/CE . This biotrickling filter is extremely competitive compared with other VOC abatement technology (e.g. thermal oxidation, active carbon). It accomplishes adequate efficiencies (80% – 99%) in a consistent, cost-effective and sustainable manner, and also when the process itself is highly variable. The VOCUS doesnt use natural gas at all, which results in significant cost reductions and considerable savings on the companies CO2 emission. Put the VOCUS side by side to thermal incineration, it can save natural gas consumption up to the equivalent consumption of 100 households.
Bert Verweel, Co-Director of Papierindustrie Maasmond in The Netherlands comments: “We have chosen for the VOCUS because we wanted a sustainable solution to comply with the legislation. After many tests for substitute printing inks we could not find a good solution. With the VOCUS we found the sustainable solution to comply with the legislation. The energy savings, low running costs and the modular construction were decisive for us. The flexibility of the VOCUS system provides us all the freedom for our future expanse.”
With its innovative, patented design, the VOCUS achieves an entirely new level of performance in VOC Control. Its adequate performance and superior economic benefits, is acknowledged by the Dutch Ministry of Environment as one of the most innovative, economical and environmentally friendly methods of VOC treatment.
Pure air solutions sales manager Marc Hogeveen remarks: “Through the intensive collaboration with our partners, the applicability of the VOCUS is broadening continuously. With the VOCUS we have a very competitive alternative compared to conventional abatement systems.”
