Premiere on Munichs Anniversary: HVB and Giesecke & Devrient Create first EC card with Pictures of Munich
Thursday 08. May 2008 - HypoVereinsbank (HVB) is now offering its customers a choice of ten special EC chip cards featuring motifs in honor of Munichs 850th anniver-sary. Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), one of the worlds leading providers of smart cards, has for the first time produced EC cards with motifs related to Munich, exclusively for HVB.
More than 7500 HVB customers have already ordered one of the ten picture cards in this first month of the spe-cial offer. Their favorites so far have been the two classic panoramic views of the city and, in third place, a picture celebrating the Oktoberfest. This motif of the famous beer festival is in great demand not only by cus-tomers in Munich but throughout Germany. HVB and G&D, both Munich-based companies, are sponsoring the citys 850-year celebrations, and HVB is even a PremiumPartner.
The special picture cards can be ordered for a one-time fee of five euros by customers who already possess an HVB EC card. Customers receiv-ing an HVB EC card for the first time can order a picture card at no extra cost. The HVB EC card is included in the HVB WillkommensKonto (wel-come account), a charge-free salary account offered by the bank. It al-lows customers to withdraw money without any handling fees at over 17,000 cash terminals all over Europe.
