FLINT GROUP NARROW WEB APPLAUDS LABEL PRINT IN ASIA

Wednesday 07. May 2008 - Leading narrow-web ink producers Flint Group Narrow Web chose the Labelexpo Asia exhibition, held late in 2007 in Shanghai, to judge and present their Print Awards Asia. These awards -- for technical achievement in narrow-web print -- attracted an enthusiastic entry from printers across the Asia Pacific region.

The judges — Mr Dieu Dai Huynh from self-adhesive laminators Avery Dennison, Mr
Präsert Vachiraprakarnsakul, Technical Director of anilox suppliers Harper Asia Pacific, and Flint Group Narrow Web’s Product Manager, Mr Pär Olsson — were impressed with the quality of the entries. They selected winners in all the categories, which represented the major print processes — UV flexo, UV offset, UV letterpress, water-based flexo, and combination printing.
Says Niklas Olsson, Global Brand Manager for Flint Group Narrow Web: ‘We have a well-established presence in the Asia Pacific region, and a strong focus on helping narrow-web printers there to get the best possible results for their brand-owning customers. We were really delighted by the high quality of the label entries in the competition and it was confirmation of the technology leap we are seeing across the globe, in the developing economies, where reel-to-reel printers are quickly achieving, and exceeding, the standards of print in the mature markets.
‘That technology leap can be attributed in part to the contributions of the press manufacturers and the substrate, ink, and ancillaries suppliers whose products today represent the leading edge of technology. However, at its core is the sheer invention and determination of the local print companies themselves. We are glad to be able to reward their efforts.’
