Friday 02. May 2008 - Podcast Interviews Bring Award-Winning Images to Life
Getty Images, Inc. (NYSE:GYI) today announced that its photographers have earned more than 80 awards and top honors over the past year from a variety of the most prestigious industry organizations, including the Overseas Press Club (OPC), National Professional Photographers Association (NPPA), Pictures of the Year International and World Press Photo. More than 30 editorial photographers received awards in a broad range of categories – spot news, domestic and international news, nature and environment, sports feature and action, portraiture as well as a new category, multimedia.
To honor the work of its photographers, Getty Images has developed an on-going series of podcasts featuring interviews with some of its award-winners sharing their experiences behind their imagery. The podcasts, which include a recent discussion with John Moore who recently won the Robert Capa Gold Medal from the OPC, two first-place World Press Photo Awards, among many other awards and accolades for his coverage of the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, are available at: http://gettyimages.com/podcast.
“We are so proud of all our winners. Across all categories, the winning images are stellar examples of the type of work our talented photographers are producing,” said Jonathan Klein, co-founder and CEO of Getty Images. “We have a deep commitment to offer our photographers the support and resources they need to capture definitive images of key events and stories around the world. In a very short time, our team of photographers and editors has become the most accomplished and successful in the industry. We are proud to be playing a part in the resurgence of photojournalism.”
At the recent 69th Overseas Press Club annual competition, Getty Images had a prominent showing in the photography category.
