Thursday 01. May 2008 - Latest InfoTrends report confirms Océ leadership position for sixth year in a row
Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, announced today that it continues its leadership in the continuous feed market for the sixth year in a row, according to recently released InfoTrends data. Statistics in the new InfoTrends report, “U.S. Production Copying & Printing Placements: 2007,” place Océ in the dominant market position in the continuous feed category with over 60 percent of roll-fed printer placements in the United States. Océ has held the top spot in the continuous feed segment since 2003, the first year InfoTrends started tracking market share for this category. The InfoTrends report covers a range of production print equipment, including monochrome, spot color, and process color roll-fed printers. InfoTrends is a leading market research and consulting firm in the digital imaging and document solutions industry.
“Once again, Océ is the roll-fed market leader in the United States. In 2007 Océ grew its U.S. market share from 49 percent to over 60 percent,” noted Jim Hamilton, Group Director at InfoTrends, and an author of the InfoTrends report.
“We are extremely proud to have extended our market share in 2007. The latest InfoTrends report validates our leadership in providing the broadest product line in the industry, designed to meet customer needs for reliability, quality, performance and versatility. Continuous feed solutions are essential for the success of our customers in on demand, transaction and other production segments, and as this data shows, we are committed to helping our customers succeed,” said Mal Baboyian, President, Production Printing Systems, Océ North America. “Furthermore, Océ is well positioned to extend our leadership position with powerful, new continuous feed products like the Océ VarioStream 8000 line, the new Océ ColorStream and Océ JetStream systems and additions to the Océ VarioStream 9000 and Océ VarioStream 7000 families.”
Océ has consistently achieved these outstanding results with the broadest and most complete continuous feed portfolio in the industry. The Océ VarioStream 7000 series is recognized for flexibility, reliability, throughput and low total cost of ownership. There are 20 engine combinations, and different post-processing equipment can be installed for maximum flexibility. The Advanced Triplex versions within this family extend that unprecedented versatility to customers with very high monthly volume requirements, typically from 8.5 million to 38 million 8.5″x11″ two-up impressions. The series also ensures customers of a seamless upgrade path as their needs evolve.
One of the newest Océ continuous feed offerings, the Océ VarioStream 8000 high-speed monochrome and highlight color family is ideal for a wide range of environments and industries. The Océ VarioStream 8000 series builds on the popular features of the Océ VarioStream 7000 family, with additional speed and versatility. It offers the further advantage of a solid foundation for upgrading as needs and markets change. No other printer in its class provides Océ CustomTone printing, MICR output and simplex, duplex and triplex technology in one package. Since its introduction less than six months ago, the Océ VarioStream 8000 family has received an iF product design award and a Best of Show award at the 2008 ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition in the category of Monochrome Digital Printing Equipment.
Designed for Océ Job Appropriate Color results, the Océ VarioStream 9000 family operates with maximum cost efficiency for black and white, one or two spot colors, or CMYK four-color process printing. Users pay for only what they print. This high-speed family is especially suited to customers with high-volume requirements such as invoices and account statements, as well as Graphic Arts applications like books. The four-color Océ VarioStream 9240 press offers single-pass duplexing at 172 letter-size full-color pages per minuteone of the fastest full-color toner-based digital presses on the market. The versatile Océ VarioStream 9000 platform features interoperability, finishing flexibility and broad application support.
Developed specifically for the Graphic Arts market, the Océ ColorStream 10000 press delivers full-process color with the quality to handle virtually every color requirement. Demonstrating Océ digital color leadership, the 172 images per minute (ipm) Océ ColorStream 10000 press can power through over five million full-color, letter-size images a month, making it one of the worlds fastest toner-based full color presses. The heavy-duty continuous feed capacity can easily absorb the volume of multiple cut-sheet color printers. As a result, operations can consolidate their resources into fewer but more productive color devices with higher quality. With monochrome jobs running at 852 ipm and jobs that mix color and monochrome pages, the duty cycle goes even higher, providing the flexibility customers require. The Océ ColorStream 10000 received a Must See Em award at the 2007 Graph Expo Conference.
The Océ JetStream system sets a new standard for ultra-high-speed, full-color inkjet printing, distinguished by outstanding color output and total flexibility, as well as its raw speed. The breakthrough continuous feed ink-jet family represents the latest in high speed, full color inkjet production printing. It delivers full process, professional quality color at up to 500 feet per minute. With unprecedented versatility, high-quality color and ease of use, users can achieve variable messaging, quality color, mixed forms, commingled data streams, and affordable short runs, all within the same workflow. The groundbreaking series includes the Océ JetStream 1100 single-engine system and the Océ JetStream 2200 twin system. The technology received a Best of Show Honorable Mention Award in the category of Process Color Digital Printing Equipment at the 2008 ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition.
