Layer separator for non-returnable packs

Krones Glideliner technology handles layer separation for non-returnable packs.

Friday 25. April 2008 - If it works for containers, it’ll work for packs as well. The retail sector’s requirement for order-picked pallets is rising, with concomitantly increased demand for automated order-picking systems.

Krones AG, Neutraubling, Germany, has accordingly transferred its Glideliner concept from container transport to pack transport. By taking some existing components from the modularised container transport range and adapting them for pack transport, Krones has created a layer separator for non-returnable packs. As with the Glideliner for containers, here, too, the principle of graduated speeds ensures appropriate pack separation.

For this purpose, various homogeneous pallet stacks are unloaded, the packs backed up, and on the loader side palletised again in a desired product mix, e.g. with four different flavours of the same product. Glideliner technology here handles layer pattern separation for non-returnable packs.
