72-page LITHOMAN from MAN Roland since 2003, and a second press of the same type was to start up there in March.
What business model is behind Willmy’s success? In a few words: the company’s catalogue and telephone directory production is totally oriented on production efficiency and product quality. Innovative printing technology
The new LITHOMAN at Willmy is virtually the twin sister of the 2003 press. Equipped with one reel splicer and four printing towers, it can produce 72 four-color pages and thus considerably expands the company’s printing capacity for catalogues and directories. Willmy and MAN Roland have agreed to work together in optimising the LITHOMAN to run at a maximum speed of 50,000 cylinder rph to set new standards in output as well.
The focus is on production efficiency and product value
Willmy PrintMedia responds to the changes and challenges of the print market with innovative ideas and investments in modern technologies, and in so doing relies on presses and service from MAN Roland, the global market leader in High Volume Offset. The LITHOMAN installed at Willmy PrintMedia in 2003 was the world’s first 72-page web press and the professional and intensive cooperation between media house and press manufacturer that ensured the success of that project has been repeated. The configuration of the press went smoothly, and the preparations for installation and commissioning are right on target. “The second LITHOMAN will increase our production efficiency even further and enable us to guarantee our customers consistently high product quality,” says Sven Plundrich. Up till now his company has converted an average of around 300 tonnes of paper every day into telephone directories and catalogues. Now, with the new MAN Roland LITHOMAN, output at Willmy is about to experience another sustained increase.
