HP Indigo Technology Enables NB Colour Print Ltd to Offer New Services

Monday 14. April 2008 - HP today announced that NB Colour Print Ltd has installed an HP Indigo press 5500 to provide its customers with a short-run digital print service.

The company specialises in the production of reports, brochures, leaflets and business cards. To match the quality of its lithographic presses, the company decided to install a six-colour HP Indigo press 5500 and has migrated some of its short-run work from its lithographic B3 press to its new digital equipment.

NB Colour Print was established in 1991 and since 2001 has been printing as a Stochastic screening service. Stochastic printing produces high-quality images by placing 20 micron sized dots of ink randomly throughout the image. Varying the amount of ink applied to the substrate creates depth and tone. The HP Indigo press 5500 complements the Stochastic print process by utilising high-definition dot placement technology to produce consistent, high-quality print. HP ElectroInk technology and special and spot colour capabilities allows NB Colour Print to accurately match the logos and brand colours of its blue chip customers.

“We decided to move into digital printing after receiving requests from our customers who wanted short-run work produced quickly,” said Robert Anderson, managing director, NB Colour Print Ltd. “We spent months researching digital presses, as we wanted to invest in a press that could print quickly and still match the print quality of our lithographic presses. The HP Indigo press 5500 was the only press that could fulfil these requirements. We can now offer our customers a cost-effective, short-run service and can even print jobs while the customer waits.”

The HP Indigo press 5500 features fast-ink replacement and a paper feeding unit, which can support an increased range of substrates and offers enhanced paper handling to maximise productivity. The press can print at speeds of up to 4,000 four-colour 8.5″x11.5″ images per hour ensuring that NB Colour Print can turnaround jobs within short time frames.

As a new user of digital printing technology representatives from the company attended an HP operator training course in Barcelona, Spain. “The courses were very well run and informative. They covered everything that we needed to know to operate and maintain the press. HP has made the transition into digital printing very easy for us and I would recommend the courses to other new HP Indigo operators,” said Anderson.

The company is expecting to see its digital services grow and will be offering a personalisation service in the near future. In order to capitalise and sustain its growth into digital printing, representatives from the company will be attending HP’s Maximising the Digital Opportunity and Digital Selling Skills courses – launched under the Capture business success programme in Warrington this month.HP Indigo Technology Enables NB Colour Print Ltd to Offer New Services
