Thursday 03. April 2008 - • Building on success of Process Colour Control Systems to date • Providing customers with complete control and validation of colour printing • Process Control Version 2.0 released at drupa - as free upgrade to existing customers

Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, today announced the forthcoming release of the next version of its i1 Process Control system developed for Canon by X-Rite, to provide imagePRESS customers with complete control over their colour print production output.

“Process Control enables our customers to print on their imagePRESS with complete confidence as all output can be verified against established industry standards such as FOGRA,” comments Mark Lawn, European Marketing Manager, Professional Solutions Strategic Marketing, Canon Europe. “Our customers have come to expect superior colour and productivity from their Canon digital colour presses, and Process Control helps them consistently achieve and even exceed the standards which modern print buyers expect and demand.”

Scheduled for release at drupa 2008 (Düsseldorf, Germany, May 29 – June 11, 2008), version 2.0 of the i1 Process Control system will be available to existing imagePRESS customers as a free upgrade and will continue to be provided as a key component in all future imagePRESS solutions.

In addition to an enhanced graphical user interface, an important new feature is the addition of an interactive profiling function, created to optimise output profiles and improve accuracy. This new release demonstrates Canon’s commitment and desire to keep pushing the technological boundaries in order to provide customers with the best solutions available in the market to support their business growth.

“We developed the i1-Process Control software specifically for the Canon imagePRESS series, to provide customers with an easy to use integrated colour management system that ensures complete harmony between the print engine and colour tools, from the operator’s display to the final printed output.

Now, more than ever, imagePRESS users can deliver exceptional quality every time, thanks to a digital colour printing and proofing engine that integrates easily in to their existing production processes,” said Dr. Iris Mangelschots, X-Rite’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

The Process Control system is another example of how Canon is delivering innovative solutions within the Canon Workflow Program, combining Canon’s own print production technology with specialist expertise from world class partners, such as X-Rite, with the aim of helping customers improve their production processes, and ultimately delivering even greater business success.
