PROSIT PRINT SOLUTIONS EXPANDS DIGITAL PRINTING CAPABILITIES WITH CANON’S NEW COLOR DIGITAL PRESS

Wednesday 02. April 2008 - Canon imagePRESS C7000VP Provides Specialized Printing Needs For Pharmaceutical Customers and Direct Mail Markets, Among Others

Canon Business Solutions., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon U.S.A. and leading provider of document imaging and office solutions, today announced that Prosit Print Solutions has selected the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP digital color production press to make its short-run digital printing more efficient and provide the ability to tap new revenue opportunities through expanded services. The imagePRESS C7000VP will also enable Prosit to extend variable data printing (VDP) solutions to the direct mail market and specialized printing for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

Installed at its new headquarters facility in Broomall, Pa., Prosit looked to Canon’s imagePRESS C7000VP to help improve its existing short-run printing system, especially as the digital color production press offers fast speeds and a robust engine at a competitive price. With customized print materials in high demand, a digital solution with an offset-like quality output was a high priority for Prosit.

“We needed to purchase a solution that could mature with our business as we continue to expand our production capabilities to new facilities and add staff to meet the emerging digital print market in eastern Pennsylvania,” said Tim Sharr, president, Prosit Print Solutions. “With Canon’s technology, we foresee new productivity levels that will translate not only into business benefits for our organization, but for our customers as well.”

With a large customer base in the direct marketing field, the need for Prosit to consistently deliver sharper text and more detailed images – from a wide color spectrum – is imperative. Using the imagePRESS C7000VP, Prosit is able to extend the execution of its customers’ creativity and allow the ability to produce on a wider range of media, including heavy and glossy stocks, and matte and enhanced multi-purpose papers.

“Prosit began using our products over five years ago and we are proud that the company saw the value Canon continues to provide to complement its growing business,” said Dennis Uhniat, executive vice president, Canon Business Solutions, Inc. “Being able to offer the speed and quality Prosit needs, the imagePRESS C7000VP will help enforce the company’s strength as a major player the market.”

Additionally, Prosit uses Fusion Pro, a Web-based software solution that enhances the production of customized color and variable data printing (VDP) with the imagePRESS C7000VP, to streamline the processes of creating, ordering, proofing, and processing varied print data. Prosit will specifically apply Fusion Pro to letters, flyers and other documents containing diverse text and images that would otherwise result in extensive production time and costs.

The Canon imagePRESS C7000VP, which began shipping in June 2007, represents the largest single engine R&D investment in Canon’s history. Capable of printing images with a level of quality that rivals offset printing, the imagePRESS C7000VP maintains engine speed regardless of media weight, including print speeds of 70ppm on media up to 110 lb. cover. In its first six months of shipping in 2007, the imagePRESS C7000VP captured 36 percent of the production print market for color engines in the 70-90ppm segment for the entire 2007 calendar year, according to Gartner Dataquesti.
