PRINT-TECH INC. EXPANDS COMMERCIAL PRINT OFFERINGS WITH THE CANON imagePRESS C7000VP DIGITAL COLOR PRESS
Monday 31. March 2008 - Commercial Print Provider Brings Capabilities of Digital Print to Michigan Marketing and Advertising Companies
Canon Business Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Canon U.S.A. and leading provider of document imaging and office solutions, today announced the installation of its imagePRESS C7000VP digital color press within Print-Tech Inc., an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based commercial print provider. The company implemented the imagePRESS C7000VP to expand its service offerings, better personalize output based on specific customer needs, and provide superior quality printed material.
Print-Tech, which will use the imagePRESS C7000VP primarily for variable data printing (VDP) and short run color printing, also plans to accelerate its production of specialty advertising and marketing media, such as posters, post cards, and business cards thanks to the efficiencies already realized with the imagePRESS C7000VP. These services will supplement Print-Techs existing range of commercial, lithographic and offset print solutions.
“When we reviewed similar digital presses, the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP clearly stood out in output quality and throughput efficiency,” said James Ceely, president, Print-Tech, Inc. “As the market for digital print services continues to grow in our region, we wanted to provide customers with the most current offerings in the industry, and continue to show our commitment to quality and helping improve their businesses.”
Maximizing efficiency within production environments is crucial in remaining ahead of the competition. Print-Tech was drawn to the imagePRESS C7000VP foremost by its image quality, speed, and ability to print on more diverse types of paper, such as textured stock. With 35 employees working two shifts, and a full offering of offset printing, digital imaging and mailing, Print-Tech Inc. is unique in its size and ability to meet the needs of local businesses.
“Variable data printing is one of the fastest growing segments of the printing industry, as advertising and marketing firms have an increasing need for more personalized communication materials,” said Dennis Uhniat, Canon Business Solutions, Inc. “We are pleased to see our imagePRESS C7000 bring the business market of Ann Arbor higher quality imaging and more efficient production time – hopefully increasing Print-Techs bottom line.”
The Canon imagePRESS C7000VP, which began shipping in June 2007, represents the largest single engine R&D investment in Canons history. Capable of printing images with a level of quality that rivals offset printing, the imagePRESS C7000VP maintains engine speed regardless of media weight, including print speeds of 70ppm on media up to 110 lb. cover. In its first six months of shipping in 2007, the imagePRESS C7000VP captured 36 percent of the production print market for color engines in the 70-90ppm segment for the entire 2007 calendar year, according to Gartner Dataquesti.
