Thursday 13. March 2008 - Proven Publishing Leader Promises Long-Term Commitment to City's Visitors and Area Businesses
Morris Visitor Publications (MVP), a worldwide publisher of visitor magazines, guidebooks and maps, has named Tony Golden publisher of its Where Houston publications. The announcement was made today by Tom Casey, president of MVP, and is effective immediately.
Golden will be responsible for relaunching the Where brand in Houston, coordinating the sales and development efforts of Where GuestBook, Where Maps and another premier Where publication to be revealed in the coming weeks. Golden also will be assembling a Houston-based editorial, sales and circulation staff to meet the needs of the city’s visitor population-one of the largest in the country.
Golden began his fast-rising publishing career as advertising director for STRIVE magazine in Manhattan Beach, California. In 2001, he launched Women’s Health & Fitness magazine for Highbury House Communications, and in 2002, launched ePregnancy, the second largest pregnancy magazine in the country. From 2004 to 2007, Golden served as group publisher of Creating Keepsakes, Simple Scrapbooks, Papercrafts and associated Web properties.
Golden has an extensive history of brand building and integrated media- based initiatives. Over the past four years, he has partnered with Suave, Hpnotiq vodka, Sexy Hair and other national brands to promote the launch of REAL Magazine. Additionally, Golden has collaborated with television programs such as Entertainment Tonight, Extra and The Sharon Osbourne Show to bring exposure to his numerous print and Web endeavors.
“Tony brings a wealth of experience to MVP,” said Casey. “He has an undeniable track record of success in publishing, and is the perfect choice for re-establishing Where as the preeminent information choice for visitors in Houston.”
A long-time admirer of Where publications, Golden said he’s thrilled to be part of a worldwide brand with such a commitment to the traveler experience. “With Where, I have a tremendous opportunity to showcase the best of Houston to millions of visitors. Where connects people with the very soul of the city — it makes what’s great about Houston even better.”
