Graphic arts equipment and precision equipment businesses merged to create a new company

Thursday 13. March 2008 - The synergistic combination of technologies will enable the new company to compete in a variety of industries

Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan; President: Masahiro Hashimoto) will be merging its Media Technology Company with its Precision Equipment Company as of April 1, 2008. The new combined company will be known as the Media And Precision Technology Company.
In recent years, the use of IT has continued to advance, and markets have become increasingly open and borderless. What’s more, the development of technologies that exceed the framework of a single field has increased dramatically.
The new company will be able to keep up with the dramatic changes taking place in the business world thanks to its combination of the well-regarded and highly-refined image processing technology of the Media Technology Company, which is the world’s top manufacturer of CtP equipment and a growing presence in the inkjet printing system market, and the precision inspection and exposure technology of the Precision Equipment Company, which focuses primarily on printed circuit board production equipment. The new company will consist of three divisions, known as the CtP (Graphic arts equipment), POD (Print On Demand), and PE (Precision Equipment) divisions. In addition to promoting increased efficiency in R&D and manufacturing and expanding the company’s fields of business, these divisions will actively develop and encourage the use of printing technology in precision equipment and help move Screen into fields that are expected to grow in the future.
Screen looks forward to becoming increasingly competitive in the market, thanks to the synergy resulting from the combination of these companies, and is confident that this realignment will result in the growth of its overall business.
