Rochelle Printing Goes Multi-Dimensional with HumanEyes Creative3D and PrintPro 2.0 Software

Friday 07. March 2008 - New 3D and animation lenticular capabilities add an even more creative dimension to Rochelle Printing's patented CyberCene Flex-n-Tuck greeting cards, ceiling danglers and point-of-purchase materials

HumanEyes, a leading developer of 3D and visual effects software solutions for photographers, designers, and digital as well as litho printers, is pleased to announce that Rochelle Printing of Rochelle, IL has installed and begun marketing new specialty printing services using HumanEyes’ Creative3D and PrintPro 2.0 software.

The company is marketing its new HumanEyes 3D lenticular and animations printing capabilities in several ways, says Greg Morhardt, sales manager at Rochelle Printing. In addition to offering standalone signage and packaging products with lenticular images, Rochelle Printing can now give an “added 4th dimension” to its popular, patented CyberCene Flex-n-Tuck products.

Rochelle Printing’s CyberCene products, which the company has been marketing for the past five years, are designed to add visual impact to point of purchase materials, greeting cards, ceiling danglers, counter/case toppers, tents, signage, cartons and similar items. With the standard CyberCene, 2D promotional images are printed on clear rigid polyester and are then mounted on a die cut, folded, 18 point frame to create a multi-dimensional, almost 3D looking, free-standing display.

“Now we can print the base image layer as 3D using HumanEyes lenticular capabilities, adding an incredible, almost ‘4th dimension’ effect to the product,” says Morhardt.  “Our customers are increasingly expressing interest in the added depth, dimension and higher visual appeal we can now give to their packaging and store displays.”

According to Morhardt, the company brought samples of its new lenticular and flip imaging capabilities to the recent In-Store Marketing Expo in Chicago and won rave reviews from attendees. One prospective customer that was shopping specifically for lenticular indicated that Rochelle’s samples were the best lenticular printing samples he’d seen at the show.

According to Jeff Johnson, prepress manager at Rochelle Printing, they discovered HumanEyes’ 3D and lenticular software during an Internet search and had their first demonstration at the Graph Expo trade show in 2006. They  installed HumanEyes PrintPro 2.0 software in 2007 and began preparing self-marketing materials using their new capabilities.

“We knew we wanted to get into 3D lenticular and flips but didn’t have much experience. Ease-of-use was therefore the big draw and the reason we chose HumanEyes software,” says Johnson.

“The HumanEyes software seemed simpler and easy to follow,” he adds. “For example it is very straightforward to determine the appropriate pitch of material with HumanEyes – much easier than some other products we looked at. The 2D to 3D timeline is another fabulous feature that helps us enormously.”

Since installing the software the company has printed several lenticular and flip jobs. For example, one recent job is a package for a utility fold-up cart from a major manufacturer. The package includes a “moving” flip image that provides an easy to understand illustration of how the product inside can be set-up – much more helpful than a static image.

In addition, the company has recently received a Gold award from the IAPHC in the Best Use of Lenticular category for the Breast Cancer Awareness CyberCene it produced in the fall of 2007. The award is part of the IAPHC’s annual showcase of printed samples that exemplify the craft, art and science employed by the global printing and graphics arts community.
