FUJIFILM INTRODUCES NEW FILM CHEMISTRY
Friday 01. February 2008 - New Formulation Helps Increase Quality and Productivity for Low Film Processing Volumes
In keeping with its long-standing tradition of formulation innovation, FUJIFILM U.S.A., Inc. today announced CN-16 Neg N1-MV Developer Replenisher – a new single-part color film developer, and CN-16 Neg N3 Color Fixer – a reformulated color film fixer, specifically formulated for decreasing film processing conditions.
The Fujifilm CN-16 Neg N1-MV Developer Replenisher is a single-part developer formulated with the robustness necessary to withstand the tremendous chemical demand required for low film processing volume environments. Designed to replenish at 25 ml/roll of 135-24 film, the Fujifilm CN-16 Neg N1-MV Developer is intended for use in film processors that do not use cartridge chemicals, which process as little as 10 rolls of film per day, and use a volume of replenisher per week equal to 15% of the developer processor tank volume.
Fujifilm has also reformulated its CN-16 Neg N3 Color Fixer to significantly reduce fixer crystallization and the buildup often found on the fixer racks and crossovers in equipment where film roll processing has declined. By significantly reducing or eliminating fixer crystallization and buildup, film scratching from this type of buildup is virtually eliminated. Further, because this type of buildup is significantly reduced, cleaning fixer racks and crossovers is far simpler, allowing employees to spend less time maintaining equipment and more time paying attention to customers.
Changing to Fujifilm’s new single-part concentrate film developer and fixer is easy. Simply mix the one-part concentrate products according to direction – in the case of the developer, reset the replenishment rate – and begin replenishing right over the top of your existing respective seasoned working tank solutions; no need to dump the existing developer or fixer working tank solution.
“Because these new chemicals are designed to resist the degrading effects of low film processing volumes on chemicals, fewer chemical dumps will be necessary, increasing productivity and reducing employee frustration,” said Bob Harvey, director of marketing, Chemicals Group, for Fujifilm’s Imaging Division. “These new products will allow most retailers and photolabs to continue processing film through already capitalized film processing equipment and continue to deliver quality processed film to their customers who continue using traditional film cameras.”
Availability
Fujifilm CN-16 Neg N1-MV Developer Replenisher, intended to replace Negacolor LR Developer Replenisher, and CN-16 Neg N3 Color Fixer will be available to start shipping in the second calendar quarter of 2008 on a stock turn basis.
