Jones Packaging Inc. Partners With Shoplogix(TM) to Rapidly Improve Plant Performance
Tuesday 22. January 2008 - Building a Foundation for Continuous Improvement
Shoplogix, a leading developer of real-time performance management (RPM) solutions, today announced that Jones Packaging Inc., a world-class provider of premier packaging solutions for healthcare and consumer brands, has selected Shoplogix’s RPM solution Plantnode(R) as the foundation for the company’s continuous improvement programs.
“The primary objective for our performance improvement team was to maximize production efficiency,” stated Dan Herbert, Director of Continuous Improvement at Jones Packaging. Plantnode helped us achieve this by automating our manual processes and providing us with accurate, real-time production data. We have gained greater performance visibility not only on a per machine basis but also on a plant-wide and job-by-job basis. Our manual process was very time-consuming and provided shift estimates at best. The speed, granularity and the degree of data accuracy Plantnode provides has improved the quality of information that feeds our SAP system, and as a result, we have better data from which to make sound business decisions.”
According to Chris Leys, Director of Business Information, “Since the Shoplogix installation, we have seen significant increases in performance, and we have gained considerable insights into our manufacturing process. There were many instances of downtime resulting from a series of starts and stops that went undetected in our manual system. We also discovered a series of opportunities for improvement due to hidden machine capacity. The visibility we now have with the Shoplogix solution has led to a dramatic decrease in downtime and allowed us to produce at highly optimized run speeds so we operate more efficiently across the board.”
“The impact of globalization is vast and ever-changing,” said Kevin Dwyer Shoplogix President and CEO. “The pace of manufacturing and adoption of lean strategies signals the need for solutions like Plantnode to simplify the complexities related to obtaining, analyzing and managing reliable data to maximize plant performance.”
