Unisource Los Angeles Facility Supplies and Packaging Operations to Be Located In One Warehouse

Wednesday 02. January 2008 - Consolidating Locations Will Optimize Product Lines, Enhance Customer Service And Achieve Greater Efficiencies

In December 2007, Unisource Worldwide, Inc., one of the leading distributors of paper, packaging and facility supplies in North America, will consolidate its Los Angeles Facility Supplies and Packaging operations, running both as one out of its more modern and far larger 400,000-square-foot La Palma facility.

The move allows Unisource to make full use of La Palma’s larger warehouse capacity in the Los Angeles area, greatly increases in-stock product reliability for its customers and provides Unisource with a more strategic operating location in the marketplace.

Los Angeles is among the top-performing regions in the United States for Unisource’s Facility Supplies business unit. Product demand and continued sales growth have outgrown the current warehouse facility in South Los Angeles. Consolidating its Facility Supplies business with the Packaging division, already operating out of the La Palma location, will allow Unisource and its sales team to meet the continual growth projected for both businesses.

While the La Palma location is only 18 miles from the current Los Angeles Facility Supplies location, it is a million miles in terms of customer benefit. In addition to increased product availability, customers will appreciate the new state-of-the-art warehouse management system which improves order accuracy and service responsiveness.

“Our company has long served the needs of the greater Los Angeles market area,” says Mitch Sagowitz, Area Vice President — Sales, for Unisource’s Facility Supplies business unit in the Los Angeles market. “As a market leader, Unisource is committed to growing and evolving with the changing and more demanding needs of the Southern California marketplace. This seamless consolidation into a new, larger warehouse and distribution operation will allow us to keep pace with our growth prospects and continue to offer the best value to our customers in both facility supplies and packaging.”

Once this consolidation is completed, the speed and flexibility of delivery of both facility supplies and packaging products are expected to improve significantly. The fleet of trucks serving Unisource customers and operating out of La Palma will increase.

Will Call customers will also appreciate the proximity of the La Palma facility to the I-5 and CA-91 freeways. The location allows easy access to the entire market area and provides improved routing capability.
