“THE 4TH DIMENSION”, THE 2008 SCHEUFELEN WALL CALENDAR

Wednesday 02. January 2008 - The 2007 Scheufelen wall calendar "The Sky Is Not The Limit" focused on the third dimension - the sky. The 2008 wall calendar takes this a step further and illustrates the 4th dimension - time.

Time has always been linked to the stars. The stars in the night sky change with the seasons – for countless millennia the constellations and their sequence have been an indication of the season and of time itself. This year they are the centrepiece of the Scheufelen wall calendar. Each month has its own constellation and associated celestial phenomena such as thunder and lightning, clouds, the moon, or even angels.
All this is presented in an innovative graphics language that is new to Scheufelen too and – like many trendsetting Scheufelen developments – ahead of its time.

Days do not simply pass, they leave behind memories. As the days and months go by, a year becomes more multilayered. The new Scheufelen calendar – long a benchmark in terms of printing technology – reflects this. The January page of the calendar depicts a starry January sky using a single ink. Two inks are used for the February image and so on, up to a total of twelve inks for December. They superimpose and penetrate each other in all manner of ways and are embellished with all kinds of surface finishes such as iridescent hot foil for the northern lights, luminescent ink for the dark month of November and innocent screen-printed white for the virgin birth at Christmas.
This is a calendar that could only be produced to such high quality standards on Scheufelen paper – and a document of time itself.
