WAN-IFRA renews its support to the Print and Production Community with the hiring of Ingi Rafn lafsson, appointed new Director of the WAN-IFRAs World Printers Forum. He will succeed Manfred Werfel, who has retired earlier this year.
The World Editors Forum (WEF), the leading network for editors from news organisations, appointed seven new members to its advisory board at a meeting in Paris on Wednesday.
The 4-year grant from Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, will enable WAN-IFRAs Women in News programme to expand to new markets, launch global research initiatives, and build internal capacity to operate the programme throughout the Arab Region and Sub-Saharan Africa. The grant is the largest received to date by WAN-IFRA in support of its media freedom work. It marks the continuation of a nearly decade-long partnership with Sida.

A media-driven, pilot project co-funded by the European Union, Stars4Media will support 100 promising young news media professionals working together around collaborative innovative project-based initiatives.

(Gannett) (NYSE: GCI) jointly announced that at their respective special shareholder meetings held today, New Media and Gannett stockholders approved all of the proposals necessary to complete the previously announced acquisition of Gannett by New Media for a combination of cash and stock (the Merger).
The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) invites the worlds press to attend the 72nd World News Media Congress, the 27th World Editors Forum and the 4th Women in News Summit to be held in Zaragoza, Spain from 17 to 19 June 2020. The annual meeting of the worlds press will be organised in partnership with Henneo, one of Spains leading media and technology companies, which celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2020. The Congress will take place at the Congreso de Zaragoza.
