Kaisa Jungmans (M.Sc.) thesis about Metsos supply chain has been granted the Best Masters Thesis Award in Paris. The French Forum pour lInvestissement Responsable, FIR (Social Investment Forum) has chosen the masters thesis written by Jungman, a Helsinki University of Technology graduate, as Europes best thesis with a sustainability focus. In her masters thesis, Jungman studied the supply chains of Metsos different industry segments from an environmental perspective.

Sonoco to Acquire Corrugated Construction Form Maker VoidForm(R) International

Sonoco (NYSE: SON), the market and technology leader in the manufacture of fiber-based concrete forms, today announced it has signed a letter of intent to acquire the assets of VoidForm International Ltd., a privately held maker of fiber-based concrete construction void forms. Terms of the pending transaction were not disclosed.

Pactiv Fourth Quarter EPS Rises 15 Percent, Sales Grow 19 Percent, Free Cash Flow Very Strong

For the quarter ended December 31, 2007, Pactiv Corporation (NYSE: PTV) today announced that income from continuing operations was $59 million, or $0.45 per share, compared with $53 million, or $0.39 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2006. Sales rose 19 percent to $876 million from $738 million and included $121 million from the acquisition of Prairie Packaging.

Norske Skog: Clarification of write-downs in the accounts for Q 4, 2007

This morning, Norske Skog published a release in which, among other things, a write-down of fixed assets was mentioned, in the amount of around NOK 2 billion. This amount is tax deductable by 28 %.
