Wednesday 26. April 2023 - Ranpak experts available to discuss optimal configurations based on operational requirements; delivering solutions today that will help customers meet or exceed the upcoming EU Packaging Directive requirements.
Ranpak Holdings Corp. (“Ranpak”) (NYSE: PACK), a global leader of environmentally sustainable, paper-based packaging solutions for e-commerce and industrial supply chains, today reported it will be bringing exciting new end-of-line (EOL) packing automation solutions to LogiMAT 2023, scheduled for 25-27 April at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. Ranpak will be located in Hall 5, Stand 5B67 at the show. During the show, Ranpak will be demonstrating its comprehensive portfolio of EOL packing automation solutions. These solutions are designed to maximize packaging efficiency for customers, enabling them to achieve their internal goals required for compliance with the upcoming EU Packaging Directive. This includes a requirement limiting the amount of void to no more than 40% in parcels shipped. Ranpak packing solutions are environmentally sustainable and paper based. They are highly protective, do not use plastic, and are designed to ensure materials are packed using the smallest amount of volume and minimal-to-no void fill, supporting customers in reaching the 40% aforementioned target. Ranpak automation configurations installed around the globe have delivered increased productivity with less labor, reduced waste and a more sustainable packing operation. Ranpak experts will be on hand at the show to discuss visitor needs and recommend optimal configuration options that can revolutionize the packing experience.
Ranpak Protective Paper and Automation Solutions: Available today to help customers meet tomorrows requirements.
The EU has proposed a new Packaging Directive scheduled to go into effect in 2030. The solutions Ranpak will be showing at LogiMAT 2023 will support customers in achieving their goals of compliance with the Packaging Directive. On display at the show are a two of the automation solutions Ranpak offers for a modern packing operation, including:
The Cutit! EVO automated in-line packing machine reduces voids in parcels before shipping, cutting down on shipping costs. It automatically shortens cartons to match their highest point of filling, and then glues a lid securely in place.
The ergonomic Flapit! system, making its public debut at the show, is a highly effective solution that automates the packing of small products. E-commerce and logistics operations can benefit from outstanding product protection when shipping products such as books, video games, DVDs, spare-parts, and small electronics. Flapit!-produced boxes significantly reduce damage during transport and ensure fewer product returns, thanks to integrated cushioning bumpers at box corners.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand at LogiMAT,” said Bryan Boatner, Managing Director Automation at Ranpak. “We are sure that visitors to our stand will find the exact solutions they need to move their business into the future, and to prepare for compliance with the upcoming EU Packaging Directive. We are very confident in the simplicity and output of our systems that we invite customers to bring their own items to pack on the lines being demonstrated at the show or select from a range of items we have on hand.”
In addition, Ranpak will be showcasing its new AI-based computer vision system that can perform a quality assessment on incoming in order to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of the automated packaging line.
“Ranpaks automation solutions have enabled us to achieve an automation level of more than 85% in our logistics center,” says Oliver Heinz of Medikamente-per-Klick, an online supplier of pharmaceutical products based in Selbitz, Germany. “We have installed two Cutit! EVOs 2nd generation and two Formit case erectors and have found their performance and reliability to be good. Because we were able to integrate the Ranpak lines with third-party solutions, the lines are so automated that there is very little human intervention, from the automatic packing of the cartons to the delivery of the high-quality sealed cartons with reduced height, ready for shipping. Ranpak has also worked with us to compensate for the lack of space with some custom modifications. With these two systems, we are able to ship 12 to 14 thousand cartons in a 10-hour day at our plant – an amazing throughput. And the sustainability of these solutions is also very important to us and our customers.”
Another satisfied Ranpak automation customer, Hans Heijdeman, Operations Manager at the Helly Hansen European Distribution Centre. Helly Hansen is a global supplier of skiing, sailing and outdoor clothing as well as workwear, headquartered in Norway. Heijdeman stated, “We moved from a manual pick-and-pack operation where we were preparing and shipping three to four hundred boxes per hour to a fully automated system that can handle 1,000 boxes per hour over a 16-hour day. And the implementation project for our new system took place during a season of record sales, which was quite an achievement. Ranpak was an exceptional partner in helping us achieve this transformation, and we are very happy with the accuracy and reliability of our new system. With Cutit! EVO, we are minimizing shipping air because we are able to adjust the height of the box to its actual contents. And we are able to place more boxes per pallet than we did before which means fewer trucks on the road. In addition, the automated system has significantly increased our throughput, as I noted, positioning us well for competitive advantage as we move into the future.”
In addition to the automation solutions, Ranpak will be exhibiting its innovative and environmentally sustainable paper-based in-the-box protective paper packing solutions, including the recently launched RecyCold climaliner combined with highly sustainable RecyCold cool packs, offering a wide range of benefits across many different cold chain applications. Experts will be on hand to discuss these solutions as well.
Additionally, we invite you to join us for an informative presentation during the LogiMAT Innovation Forum on Thursday, 27 April, at 14:30, in Forum North, Hall 5.
