Hong Kong celebrates Asian Digital Media Awards 2015 winners
Monday 23. November 2015 - Some of Asia's leading news media companies, including Apple Daily, South China Morning Post and Thomson Reuters were among the winners of the 6th annual Asian Digital Media Awards, presented in Hong Kong by Google and the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).
The ceremony, which also honoured magazine publishers such as Mongoose Publishing and digital pure players such as lifestyle website WardrobeTrendsFashion (WTF), was marked by the outstanding achievement of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), the publisher of The Straits Times, which scooped no less than 12 trophies.
From Asia to the world
SPH’s Gold Best in Online video award for their “It changed my life” series also triumphed at WAN-IFRA´s World Digital Awards last October. All Asian Digital Media Awards top winners automatically enlist for WAN-IFRA’s global Awards, where they compete with their peers from Europe and Latin America.
The Asian Digital Media Awards are the most prestigious recognition in Asia of outstanding work in the fields of news website, online video, data visualisation, digital advertising campaign, news mobile services, tablet publishing, reader engagement and outstanding new product. Two new categories were added this year to honour the best lifestyle website and best lifestyle mobile service.
The ceremony was held on 18 November at Digital Media Asia 2015, WAN-IFRA’s annual digital conference that gathered 240 media executives from 28 countries.
Digital Media Asia is WAN-IFRA’s premier digital conference in the Asia-Pacific region and the Asia Digital Media Awards ceremony is one of the highlights of the event.
WAN-IFRA’s Digital Media conferences have become a referent in the digital publishing industry, with more than 1,000 delegates from around the globe annually attending the Digital Media Europe (DME), Digital Media Asia (DMA), Digital Media India (DMI), and Digital Media Latinoamérica (DML) series of events. This DMx network of events makes it one of the most relevant international business platforms dedicated to the transformation of the news media industry.
