Kodak to demonstrate latest process free plates
Wednesday 15. April 2015 - Kodak (stand A1) will be showing its range of SONARA Process Free Plates to the Middle Eastern market for the first time at Gulf Print & Pack 2015. KODAK SONORA Process Free Plates eliminate the processing step required by traditional thermal plates and provide significant energy, water, and waste reductions without requiring printers to make sacrifices on productivity or print capabilities.
KODAK SONORA XP Plates are for medium and large commercial printers, delivering the productivity, quality, and print capabilities of mainstream processed plates while completely eliminating the need for plate processing.
SONORA XP Plates are available in plate widths up to 1,495 mm. Currently, SONORA XP Plates are the only true process-free plates commercially available in these formats. VLF plate sizes, a variety of gaugesincluding 0.40 mmand fast imaging speeds make SONORA XP Plates ideal for a wide range of medium and large commercial printers. Removing processing can deliver significant cost, environmental and process control benefits for printers of all sizes, and with SONORA XP Plates, Kodak has been striking down the barriers that have prevented large printers from adopting process-free plates in the past. The new VLF plate size and 0.40 mm gauge are the latest in a string of developmentsincluding faster imaging speeds, longer run lengths, darker plate contrast, and broader print capabilitythat have expanded the reach of SONORA XP Plates.
Not only do SONORA XP Plates satisfy the needs of small, medium and large commercial sheetfed print production, they also deliver strong print performance on commercial heatset and coldset web presses, in offset packaging applications, and even in short-run UV.
Designed for both manual and automated platemaking environments, KODAK SONORA NEWS Plates enable newspaper printers to get their jobs to press faster by eliminating the time needed for traditional processing. For automated prepress operations, SONORA NEWS Plates now offer a significant advantagea darker contrast than was possible with previous process free plate technology.
SONORA NEWS Plates enable the elimination of plate processing equipment and processing chemistry and are the only plates designed for newspaper applications that offer this benefit while delivering the quality, productivity, and print capability of mainstream processed plates. Running on the GENERATION NEWS Platesetter, SONORA NEWS Plates are able to be imaged at speeds up to 240 plates per hour. In addition, SONORA NEWS Plates help save time and money and reduce environmental impact compared to violet plates and “chemistry-free” plates. Unlike violet plates, SONORA NEWS Plates do not require any prepress processing, providing printers more stable, consistent plates for reliable quality.
