Herts & Essex in double guillotine purchase

Tuesday 24. March 2015 - Herts & Essex Printers has followed up its investment in a Speedmaster SX 52-5+L Anicolor at the turn of the year with two Polar guillotines. They have just arrived at the factory and are straight into production.

“We held back on investment during the recession but have upgraded, first with the press and now with two Polar 92 N Plus guillotines which replace 13 year old models. They give us a larger touchscreen interface and also a safe and easy to use knife changing system,” says Chris Ollard, who is joint managing director with his brother Mick Ollard.
The B3 specialist printer based in Hertford offers comprehensive finishing services including cutting and creasing; thermography, foiling, embossing and cutting and creasing services.
“All finishing is a vital element in producing good work in a timely manner and accurate and efficient cutting in particular is critical. We like Polar technology which is robust and reliable,” he says.
The N series from Polar was launched last Drupa. The N stands for network-capable high speed cutters and the Plus version that Herts & Essex has taken features an 18.5 inch screen and many operator friendly and time saving options. Polar employs about 500 staff and produces about 1,200 guillotines and 900 peripheral machines a year, with export accounting for 85% of its business.
