Barkers secures environmental grant for Suprasetter purchase
Wednesday 06. August 2014 - A Prosetter has made way for a Suprasetter 74 at Barkers Print & Design and the company was awarded an £8,000 Government grant towards the £70,000 machine.
The Government grant was secured because of the environmental benefit it brings to the business, eliminating its chemistry, processor and disposal costs as well as reducing its use of electricity and water.
Barkers, a B3 commercial printer serving a largely local Norfolk market from its site in Attleborough, is environmentally minded. It has also recently introduced more energy efficient lighting in the factory. ISO 14001 certification is something it will consider in future and meantime it will continue to look for other ways to be greener.
The Suprasetter was selected only after a review of various supplier options. Reliability and the known responsiveness of service gave it the security it needed to go ahead with Heidelberg.
About 600 to 800 Chem-free plates a month will be output from the Suprasetter to feed the company’s three B3 presses, a four- and two two-colour. The company also runs a colour digital machine.
The company, which is finding itself “busier and busier” will use the Suprasetter on flexible day shifts. The operators found the transfer from Prosetter to Suprasetter seamless, given the continued use of Heidelberg software programmes.
