KODAK Info Activate Solution v2.0 simplifies Microsoft SharePoint user experience with new input support for smartphones and multi-function peripherals
Monday 21. October 2013 - KODAK Info Activate Solution wins Editor's Choice at the Document Manager Magazine Awards 2013
Kodak Alaris’ Document Imaging business today announced KODAK Info Activate Solution v2.0, delivering on its vision for an easier, more consistent and cost-efficient way to capture, govern and manage data from electronic and paper documents within Microsoft SharePoint. Powered by a radically simple user interface, Info Activate v2.0 brings significant updates including support for Microsoft SharePoint 2013 and new input capabilities for smartphones and multi-function peripherals (MFPs).
“With Info Activate Solution v2.0, we focused on ways to increase productivity while maintaining the platform’s overall simplicity,” said Rod Hughes, General Manager for Software & Solutions, Kodak Alaris’ Document Imaging business. “The new release showcases our information capture expertise and its impact on business processes. End users still benefit from the single-click functionality featured in the software’s original release with additional options to onboard information into workflows hosted in Microsoft SharePoint environments.”
Taran Sohal, Director of UK-based solution provider Cloud2, described the capabilities of the KODAK Info Activate Solution platform at a customer installation at a UK NHS trust. “The customer was looking to implement an electronic payroll records management system to increase the efficiency of their process,” said Sohal. “We designed a solution involving Info Activate software that leverages the SharePoint installation available at the customer site, and we were able to deploy it in a matter of weeks. The end customer loves the one-click solution because it has enabled them to respond more quickly to customer inquiries. For the NHS trust IT team, what matters most is that Info Activate Solution allows them to better control and apply document retention policies.”
Info Activate Solution v2.0 expands on these capabilities by introducing all-new support for mobile document capture. It enables users of Android and iOS smartphones to capture, index and submit documents into SharePoint. Documents captured on the go are automatically enhanced to achieve the best image quality. The Info Activate mobile app is available from the Apple and Google app stores and is used with the optional Info Activate mobile server module.
The latest version of Info Activate Solution now allows users to submit documents directly from MFPs and the KODAK Scan Station series. Info Activate Solution v2.0 accepts raster files, including JPGs, TIFFs and Raster PDFs, as well as electronic documents from Word and PowerPoint.
Info Activate Solution v2.0 also introduces “point and shoot” OCR support, allowing for the transfer of an entire word to an index field simply by mouse clicking the word. Users still may use the manual typing and OCR rubber-banding modes, but may select the “point and shoot” OCR option for greater efficiency in the single word entry process.
Existing customers with software assurance may upgrade at no cost, or they may select an optional fee-based service with installation performed by Kodak Alaris’ Document Imaging business. Upgrades to the latest version of Info Activate Solution include support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 – Desktop Mode.
KODAK Info Activate Solution was awarded Editor’s Choice at the recent Document Manager Magazine Awards held in London on October 3, 2013.
David Tyler, editor, says, “Info Activate managed to be a real standout product in a year that saw some genuine innovation and bright ideas from across the DM/ECM industry. It seems to me that as SharePoint becomes ever better established as the ‘go-to’ application for all kinds of knowledge workers, Kodak Alaris is perfectly positioned with Info Activate to take advantage and become the de facto distributed capture solution for those users.”
