Emerson to Showcase New Energy Savings/Sustainability Products at This Year’s Interpack Trade Fair in Düsseldorf

Friday 22. April 2011 - Emerson Industrial Automation will exhibit two new operating displays to show the value-added benefits of: System Plast New Generation NG chain and belts, Nolu-S wear strips and guides and the new Multidirectional Roller Top chain.

The new energy display features two conveyors operating side-by-side. One is equipped with industry standard acetal and UHMW components, while the other uses NG chain with Nolu-S wear strips and guides. Viewers can visually monitor an energy savings that averages over 20%. According to Matt Stoneburner, Global Industry Manager for Emerson Industrial Automation, “Our engineers are continually working with customers to help them match our products with their needs. Today we are focused on reducing energy and water consumption. This helps customers meet operational and environmental sustainability goals.”
Across the globe increased energy costs continue to take the forefront in critical plant management operating issues. Reducing energy costs can have a significant impact on the ability for a company to secure a brands success. Additionally, lowering water consumption is critical to personal and corporate sustainability in many countries. The shortage of fresh water has an even greater impact in many emerging countries. In the next five years it is expected that several countries will begin to import water.
Emerson is continuing to work towards more efficient products that support greater sustainability.
The lower coefficient of friction provided by the NG and Nolu-S products allow high-speed running beverage plants more opportunities to run dry versus the traditional soap and water lubrication. Most food and beverage companies have corporate goals for water use reduction.
Traditional soap and water operations use 4 to 7 times more water in production than they produce in product. By changing to dry running operations plants can save money in water, water reclamation and soap expense while improving worker safety.
Another opportunity to achieve efficient plant operation is the use of the unique Sealmaster bearing product offering. The bearing products align features specific to tough operating applications found in critical plant locations. Proper bearing selection can lead to improved uptime.
Emerson will also showcase the new Multidirectional Roller Top chain in action in a new operating display.
The new 2253 RST Series plastic belting provides 360° logistical flexibility in product handling. The 2253RT can be utilized in a system to rotate the product for specific labeling or packing requirements. It can also divert product to crossing conveyors for truck queuing, size and order sorting and other requirements. The system provides new efficiency for packaging operations, catalog and multi-line distribution facilities to sort by customer or geographic location. It also allows for accumulating lines to consolidate material and reduce the friction properties of traditional black belt for efficient handling.
Emerson Industrial Automation has developed digital software selection programs. These tool boxes provide resources and analysis for proper product selection of conveying components for maximum energy and water consumption reduction. Examples will be available at the booth.
Emerson Industrial Automation has eight global distribution centers that provide product and service capabilities.
