NEWMAN LABELLERS CHOSEN BY SERVIER FOR NORTH AFRICA
Thursday 07. April 2011 - French pharmaceutical company Servier is to benefit from Newman Labelling Systems NV2 fully automatic, self-adhesive labelling systems at its facilities in Cairo, Egypt and Morocco.
Independent French research based Laboratoires Servier is established in 140 countries and has a worldwide workforce of over 20 000. As part of a continual drive to improve efficiency across all parts of its business, Servier has invested in new ‘mini lines’ at two sites in North Africa, allowing it to operate smaller batch runs with quick changeover function. Two Newman Labelling NV2s have been supplied to Pharma Packaging Systems Ltd. (a specialist in integrated packaging solutions to the pharmaceutical industry) for incorporation into these new lines. Such a configuration leaves the main Servier production lines free to run dedicated, longer batches, reducing changeover times and significantly improving production efficiency.
The new lines featuring the NV2 labellers at Servier will initially be used to label Serviers Coversyl product (blood pressure medication) in a plastic flip cap pot. The pot is a difficult product to label as its effectively an uneven conical shape and has an overhanging cap which can cause infeed problems for other machines. A high level of label application accuracy was of critical importance to the client. The NV2 however, is a highly versatile machine that is able to accurately label a wide variety of containers, including cylindrical, flat, square and oval shapes. Furthermore, it offers the capability to label containers from 10mm to 150mm with minimal change parts.
The NV2 labelling systems have been supplied to Servier via Pharma Packaging Systems with hot foil coder, overprint detection and pharmacode scanner. They form part of a line that includes tablet counting, filling & capping equipment.
The NV2 is available exclusively from Newman Labelling Systems, a leading manufacturer of labelling machines designed specifically for the pharmaceutical industry, with a customer base that includes the worlds top ten pharmaceutical companies. All purpose built systems are fully compliant with FDA cGMP requirements and can be supplied with validation completed up to PQ.
