Fujifilm maximises workflow efficiencies with the launch of XMF v3.1 and XMF Remote R6
Friday 04. March 2011 - Enhanced functionality of XMF cross-media workflow solution allows for closer integration and more streamlined pre-production processes
Fujifilm today announces the latest versions of its industry leading XMF cross-media workflow solutions. XMF version 3.1 features many new enhancements to help printers automate and streamline their production processes – making it the ideal solution for managing complex, multi-process production environments. XMF Remote R6, the latest version of Fujifilms online job submission and soft proofing module, provides greater annotation control and allows for closer integration between printer and client.
Both new versions continue to maximise both print quality and efficiency, providing closer integration of both products. XMF now simplifies pre-flight and rendering to a single stage process by giving users the ability to publish directly from the XMF interface to the customer.
A number of enhancements have also been made to XMFs flexible “JDF-based” imposition, including support for JDF 1.4 and the option to add a finishing solution to the workflow, facilitating full end-to-end integrated production.
Version 3.1 also introduces a new product variant, XMF Gateway. This new XMF Gateway product allows customers to integrate their existing workflow solutions with an XMF workflow so that an existing workflow can be used to produce plates via any Fujifilm CTP device.
XMF Remote R6 expands on the annotation features of R5. Each annotation is now associated with the approver who made it, and the overall view can be changed to show either all annotations or only those of a particular approver. Also, the option to display the background page proof as a lighter image enhances the contrast with the overlaid annotations and helps them to stand out from the page artwork.
“We continually work closely with our customers to understand their requirements, and are confident that XMF v3.1 will meet their needs”, says John Davies, business strategy manager, workflow, FUJIFILM Europe. “XMF allows printers to increase overall efficiency – even when having to handle late changes to content, media or press type – making it easy to respond to their customers changing needs.”
XMF is unique in being built from the ground up around JDF and the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE). With Fujifilms image processing, imposition and intelligent automation technologies built-in, XMF improves the control of quality across multiple print processes, increasing efficiency and productivity, ensuring colour consistency and optimising print production.
