HEARST NEWSPAPERS NAMES SHAWN E. PALMER, PUBLISHER OF THE NEWS-TIMES
Tuesday 15. February 2011 - Hearst Newspapers announced today that Shawn E. Palmer has been named publisher of The News-Times in Danbury, Conn., an operating division of the Hearst Connecticut Media Group. The announcement was made by Steven R. Swartz, president of Hearst Newspapers, and Mark E. Aldam, executive vice president of Hearst Newspapers. Palmer, who was associate publisher of The News-Times, is filling the previously vacant publisher role and will start in his new role immediately.
Palmer will assume responsibility for all business operations of the Danbury paper, as well as the New Milford Spectrum, and join the Editorial Board of The News-Times. As publisher, he will continue to represent Hearst Connecticut Media Group’s interests across the Northwest corridor of Fairfield and Litchfield Counties and continue his active role in special projects involving new product development for the Group. Palmer will continue to report Aldam.

Palmer joined Hearst as associate publisher of The News-Times in January 2010. Before that, he was a consultant to Hearst Connecticut Media Group and director of sales and business development for AdPerfect, an advertising software provider serving print and online publishers. Palmer’s prior experience includes five years as advertising director for The Day Publishing Company in New London, Conn., and six years at The Star-Ledger in Newark, N.J., where he served as classified sales manager and direct marketing sales manager. Prior to joining The Star-Ledger, he worked in a variety of advertising sales and management capacities at The Hartford Courant.
Palmer has a bachelor’s from Providence College and an M.B.A. in marketing from Seton Hall University.
