manroland: sweeping success in Greater China
Friday 21. January 2011 - "It is great to see China's economy continue to grow," says Adam Yuen, Managing Director of manroland Greater China, "and thanks to the significant support from our old and new customers, manroland Greater China has achieved huge business success in the sheetfed, webfed, printservices, and printcom sectors in 2010."
“There is a clear tendency towards ever higher printing quality and ever larger formats,” says Eric Wong, General Manager Sheetfed Sector of manroland Greater China. “We are glad to open our customers new production and quality dimensions.” Jiangsu Pacific Printing Co., Ltd., which is located in Suzhou and Changzhou City of Jiangsu Province, is a good example to illustrate this. It purchased a five-color ROLAND 900, XXL in the 7B plus format. Meanwhile Yuyao Jiangnan Printing Co., Ltd., that owned a competitor’s large-format press, now turned to manroland with a 7B format ROLAND 900, XXL.
manroland is not only the premium packaging market leader in China for seven to eight colors or double coating with UV but also holds a leading position in innovative enhancement technology, such as ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor and ROLAND InlineCoater smart. For example, Taiwan Lisheng Color Printing Co., Ltd. installed an eight-color ROLAND 700 LTTLV equipped with a ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor earlier in 2010 which performs very well now.
Within the webfed sector customers keep repeating their orders with manroland. After working with four UNISET web offset presses since 2004, Sichuan Ribao in Chengdu has recently opted for two UNISET again. The new printing systems are equipped with five reel splicers, four printing towers, and two folders and will start production in July 2011. A dryer enables heatset printing and thus enlarges Sichuan Ribao’s production possibilities. The UNISETs feature 80,000 copies per hour which makes them one of the most capable printing systems in China. Since 2006 the company has been a manroland sheetfed user, too, with an eight-color ROLAND 700 and a four-color ROLAND 700.
The Hangzhou Daily Press Group decided to complement its manroland machinery park by ordering a ROTOMAN commercial web offset press to be delivered at the end of March 2011. It is their second ROTOMAN purchase after one in 2007. Yet the partnership with manroland has been lasting for much longer: in the nineties the Hangzhou Daily Press Group already invested in two UNISET presses. Moreover a five-color ROLAND 700 sheetfed press was installed in 2009.
“In the intensely competitive society customers need faster presses. Faster presses mean higher efficiency,” says Steffen Dittmann, General Manager Web Offset Sector of manroland Greater China. “We are very glad to see that our products do meet the needs of our customers and help them stand firmly in the competitive market.”
In addition, in 2010 manroland also achieved smashing successes in printservices and printcom. In printservices for sheetfed systems the range of upgrade products was expanded with ColorPilot, ROLAND InlineCoater smart, PressManager perfect and ServiceKit. The upgrade sales are up to 2.5 times compared to the year before. The number of presses under ProServ BasicPlus contract has doubled. The sales of spare parts have increased over 30 percent. In printservices for webfed systems the range of upgrade products has been further broadened with web width reduction, PECOM upgrade and modification, retrofit, and turbo-maintenance unit. Out of these China Times ordered web width reduction and PECOM upgrade. In the meantime, a considerable achievement has been made in terms of maintenance and ProServ contracts. In printcom the annual growth exceeds 55 percent per annum in the past five years.
