BEST of 2010 AWARDS demonstrate the quality of the exhibitors
Monday 08. November 2010 - That the viscom was full of novelties was once again demonstrated during the viscom night, when the awards ceremony for the first edition of the BEST of AWARDS took place. Awards were given for this year's best: viscom exhibitors who came to the 2010 fair with especially good and well developed products.
Four prizes in four categories were awarded by the jury, which consisted of the editors-in-chief from the media partners Werbetechnik, Large Format, SIP and signPro Europe, as well as other experts from the industry, including representatives of the Zentralverband Werbetechnik e.V. The viscom BEST of 2010 AWARD is the successor of the viscom INNOVATION AWARDS which, since 2007, acknowledged innovative products at the international trade fair for visual communication.
Category Signmaking: UV Lackieranlage Bürkle LFC (Welte GmbH)
The winner this year in the sign making category was the Bürkle UV painting system LFC from Welte GmbH. The painting system is suitable for the application of primer coatings and protective lacquers as well as for finishing the complete surface of digitally printed media. Maximum disk thicknesses of up to 80 mm can be continuously painted. Direct paint hardening is achieved by UV radiation, whereby the UV capacity is variable. Capacities of 50, 66 or 100 per cent can be selected. A Siemens Touch Screen provides the central control.
The jury acknowledged the high flexibility of the machine, whose paint thickness is variable, and is suitable for almost all surfaces. Also worth mentioning is the fact that three companies came together to find an optimum solution for this development: Welte GmbH, Bürkle GmbH and Marabu for the colours.
Category Large Format Printing/LFP: Ink ESL-3 MT (Roland DG Benelux nv)
Roland DG Benelux nv presented a really good BEST of AWARD solution. Its ink, ESL-3 MT received the award in the Large Format Print/LFP category. The ink also offers the colours silver metallic and white, thus ensuring unlimited design possibilities.
The jury mentioned in particular the complete package consisting of the ink, the printer/cutting plotter Versa CAMM VS 640 540/420/300 and the associated software, together with the media library, for example a series of media print profiles as well as the inclusion of numerous layout, processing and print functions. The jury also noted the quality of the colours that can also generate a metallic look in any shade when in combination with silver.
Category Textile Printing: SupliTEX WP-3200 (Outdoor Colorprinting)
The happy winner in the 2010 textile printing category is Outdoor Colorprinting with the textile printer SupliTEX WP-3200. The 3.20 metre sublimation printer is a massive, high-grade machine, which with 60 square metres per hour can operate really fast. This as well as the precision of the printer won over the jury. The rollers of the printer can be precisely set and manually adjusted, so that setting to the precise millimetre is possible. The non-contact heating system is simultaneously a panel heating that reliably carries out the sublimation process even at high print speeds.
Category Software: ErgoSoft TexPrint 14 High-End RIP (Multi-Plot Europe)
New this year is the software category, which was won by Multi-Plot Europe GmbH. The TexPrint 14 High-End RIP for digital textile production was developed by ErgoSoft and is outstanding due to its textile specific colour calculation/simulation tools with regard to the colouring through ColorCombine. The jury gave special mention to the fact that the system achieves the same quality on textiles as it does on other materials.
