Caxton and CTP Publishers and Printers Invests in Two ProLiners with CoLiner – The First in Africa
Tuesday 12. October 2010 - Caxton has favored Muller Martini insertion systems for the last six years at its production facility in Johannesburg. In addition to three SLS2000 (installed in 2004) and two SLS3000 (in operation since 2006) systems, South Africa's leader in the insert business with monthly inserts in excess of 50 million, will increase its capacity by investing in two ProLiners with CoLiner.
Caxton opted for the combined ProLiner/CoLiner solution not least because the pre-gathering unit is perfectly suited to gathering small and light single-sheet inserts. They then leave the CoLiner as a finished stack, and the pre-gathered products are fed into the main section along with other inserts via a ProLiner feeder. Both ProLiners feature two intermediate openings to open enclosed pre-printed sections and attach other inserts. The pockets can be opened by selection, which also makes it easier for Caxton to form different zones.
The two identical lines each have three feeders on the ProLiner and four feeders on the CoLiner. The bundles are stacked on two NewsStack stackers. The main section is fed into the two lines, which are operated offline, using stream feeders.
