CTP - Computer to Plate
Mitsubishi Paper Mills presents a new generation of polyester and paper printing plates at IPEX 2010
Thursday 27. May 2010 - For many years small and medium size printing houses world-wide have been using Mitsubishi plate-making solutions to successfully grow their business and increase their profitability. In fact, Silver Digiplate Systems have become synonymous with compact, fast, ecological and economical CTP.
At IPEX 2010, Hall 11, Stand D226, Mitsubishi Paper Mills will present, for the first time, the newest generation of Digiplate. The new Polymer DigiPlate (PDP) will be imaged using a compact violet 405 nm/120 mW laser CTP system and then will be run live on a Ryobi 784E press.
The Polymer DigiPlate system is a true chemical-free plate-making system which uses polyester or paper based plate material available in roll format in various thicknesses. The new PDP plates use a polymer cross-linking technology that does not require any chemical processing. The integrated plate washing process requires only water for the rinse off. This unique integrated plate process does not require any pre-heating at the imaging or processing stages.
Mitsubishis new Polymer DigiPlate product, with its small foot print, chemical free plate production, high speed output and low-energy consumption provides commercial offset printers in B3 or B2 format a fully automated CTP system that is extremely environmentally friendly. And with a maximum resolution of up to 3000dpi, the PDP System guarantees the highest quality offset printing for run lengths up to 20,000 impressions.
Polymer DigiPlate will be available for commercial release and sale from the beginning of 2011.
Also on view at IPEX, is the Thermal Digiplate (TDP) system, a processless and chemical free CTP system for single and spot colour printing. This paper based plate-making system produces plates without any processing consumables, such as toner, ink or carbon ribbons. The thermal printing head can image up to 75 plates per hour at 1200dpi.
In 2009 the Mitsubishi TDP system received the Technology Award from the Society of Printing Science and Technology in Japan.
Additionally, a variety of products of the Mitsubishi HiTec Paper range will be on display on the Mitsubishi stand.
